The latest version macOS Tahoe 26.2 is now available, and alongside performance improvements, brings new features for video calls, Reminders, and dividing AI work across multiple Macs.
Following the release of macOS 26.1 on November 3, 2025, Apple has now issued the next update. After multiple rounds of testing, macOS 26.2 is now the current version of the operating system.
While many or even most such point updates are intended to address issues such as security or performance ones, this release adds three specific new features:
- Thunderbolt 5 multiple Mac use
- Edge Light
- Urgent Reminders
Mac cluster
As previously reported, this new version of macOS Tahoe will allow for multiple Macs to be connected together over Thunderbolt 5.
This means that they will be able to split an AI LLM across each of those Macs, dividing the workload and also sharing resources such as RAM. It comes alongside a speed improvement for AI work on macOS Tahoe.
The other two features are small but will be welcome to more macOS users.
Edge Light for video calls
Apple has added a new option for Zoom, FaceTime and all video call apps. During a call, the menubar item that appears now includes an Edge Light setting.
So alongside options for raising a hand during a call, or changing the background behind the caller, users can now turn on these lights. Selecting Edge Lights sees the Mac fade in a large and bright white border around the edges of the screen.
It’s intended to provide better illumination for a user’s face. Edge Light also detects where the user’s face is in the frame and can adjust the lights to give an even balance.
The new feature seems to work best on fairly small monitors, or at least when used on very wide ones, the effect is much more limited.
Urgent Reminders
“Mark a reminder as urgent and get an alarm when it’s due on your iPhone or iPad,” says Apple the first time Reminders is launched after the update. “Snooze your alarm if you can’t get to it straightaway.”
Nicely, this alarm does not sound on the Mac, it sounds on the iPhone. The first time a user sets a Reminder as urgent, they are prompted through setting up alarms on their iPhone.
Note that while this macOS 26.2 is now the official version of macOS Tahoe, it can take some time for it to roll out internationally. If a user is not already prompted to update, they can go to Settings, General, and Software Update to request the download.
