The “F1” movie might get a sequel in 2028.
The CEO of Formula 1 suggested that Apple TV might get a sequel to the popular “F1” movie, while Eddy Cue highlighted Apple’s exclusive streaming deal for all 24 races in 2026.
At the Apple TV press day on Tuesday, the iPhone maker revealed an extensive list of new shows and films coming to its streaming service. Apple also outlined its planned sports lineup, which includes Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball content, along with Formula 1 races.
Apple secured the rights to Formula 1 races back in October 2025, and all races will be available at no extra cost to Apple TV subscribers in the United States.
There’s also the “F1” movie, which was declared the most-watched film on Apple TV. Given its demonstrable success, a sequel wouldn’t be unexpected, and there are already hints of what’s in store.
When asked about the chances of another “F1” film, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said that “it will not be for next year,” if it happens at all. “We’re going to tell you something more in the future. Never say never. But we need to digest more the success of this movie because it was something unique.”
As Deadline reports, Domenicali added that “if you want to think of a new one, it has to be really, very, very good.” While no dates were provided, the Formula 1 CEO did say that “maybe next year we’re going to be here [at the Apple TV press day], and hopefully we [will] have something more to announce.”
In short, Domenicali suggested that there might be a sequel in 2028 or so, but did not officially confirm that another “F1” movie is in the works.
“Relevancy is the key to our success, relevancy in the right platform,” said the Formula 1 CEO about the company’s arrangement with Apple. Apple’s SVP of Services Eddy Cue, meanwhile, outlined the content currently available as part of Apple’s F1 partnership.
“We’ve got 24 F1 movies this year on Apple TV,” Cue explained, referring to the number of Formula 1 races. “I don’t know what the ending is. It’s the best unscripted drama in the world.”
Cue also reiterated the fact that all F1 races, including spring races, qualifying races, and post-race segments, were available on the Apple TV platform in the United States at no additional cost to subscribers. He spoke of Apple TV as a single place for F1 content, available across Apple’s hardware platforms, including the iPhone.
While there has been no official confirmation of another “F1” film, there’s a good chance for a potential sequel in 2028 and beyond.
